Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film as well as on stage. Her most well-known role was for her role as Teri (the fierce lawyer) Joseph. Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai before he turned 7, had traveled across the globe and lived through diverse cultures when he was a kid. Her education was at a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Her family later relocated from London in Toronto, Canada. When she was in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become ballet dancer of classical training. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts focused on dance and theater. Contractor began acting at age 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. When she graduated from high school she was awarded a full grant to attend the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was cast in her first show in the midst of her university year. The play was well-received in the 92 plays which she was a part of. She won the 2002 award for the best production of the Year from Canadian critics. She accepted the invitation to attend Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash training in classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the next season of shows and eventually landed the role in the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
